My 2013 Campaign
Thank you for viewing my website. As you read, you will be able to understand why I am running for City Council member, and why I am dedicated to the town of Stone Mountain. I have been fortunate to live in Stone Mountain most of my life, and I know the standard of living that makes our town great. As I look through the list of all the citizens of Stone Mountain, I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can. There are many things that need to change in order to improve our quality of life, and I want to work with you to make this happen. I have already heard from many of my friends living here, and we all love this town!
My interests include:
Revitalization of our downtown area
Promote safety and accessibility for cyclists and pedestrians
Preserving our heritage for future generations
Better educational experiences for all of our youth
Improving communication between the council and the people they work for
My website will continue to serve the citizens of Stone Mountain once I become your City Council member, so everyone can see how issues are being resolved throughout the next four years. We have made progress improving our roads and sidewalks but more needs to be done. We have helped our children by providing school supplies, but we need to provide academically as well. We have encouraged community activities, but our outreach is lacking, and attendance is few. We have restored many vacant houses, but there are still many that remain unkempt. Many businesses are started here, but they cannot keep their doors open.
Our town faces challenges financially due to lack of restraint with spending, and there should be a more modest approach to balancing the budget. There is a lack of communication between council and citizens; however, through my open communication via my website and emails, I hope to help you have a voice about concerning issues, whether it be about safety, policing of our streets and neighborhoods, traffic, public transportation, or housing. We here in Stone Mountain are working to improve our homes, out walking our dogs, playing in our yards, and riding our bikes. We should have safe, well-kept places to do these types of activities. Let's make it our priority to find the quality of life. We need a city council that never forgets who they work for, and whose money they're spending.
I will be working for you, and I know many have given up on making changes, but I promise to do my best to see an improvement in these issues. I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at City Hall. Everyone is welcome to the City Council meetings and work sessions. Mark your calendars and begin attending, as your input is important!
Sincerely,
Andrea Redmond
